Swire Shipping Introduces Second Vessel to the
US West Coast – Pacific Island Trade

Dear Valued Customer,

Further to our announcement of 3rd May, Swire Shipping is pleased to announce the introduction of a second operated vessel onto the trade between the US West Coast and Pacific Islands. This follows the decision by Hamburg Süd to exit the trade and will ensure that customers continue to enjoy uninterrupted service with the same 19-day service frequency and port coverage.

The MV Polynesia will join the trade on 22nd July in Apia, with the Cap Salia phasing out of the service at that time. Swire Shipping will now operate both vessels on this service.

These changes will be reflected in this week’s schedules.

The MV Polynesia is a geared 1,700 TEU vessel with 300 reefer plugs and is ideally suited for the trade between the US West Coast and the Pacific Islands. This is larger than the Cap Salia, (1,100 TEU size vessel) and will therefore provide additional capacity to ensure that our customers’ supply chains remain open and to facilitate growth in the region.

In addition, we are pleased to announce that staff previously operating the South Seas Trade have joined Swire Shipping, where they will continue to provide customers with the same high levels of service and help facilitate a seamless transition. The new team can be contacted on exports.us@swireshipping.com.

Swire Shipping extends a warm welcome to all our new customers, and we hope to continue serving your needs as a trusted partner for many years to come. If you have any further questions with regards to the above, please do not hesitate to contact your Swire Shipping representative.

Yours sincerely
