Heavy Weight Surcharge (HEA) – Asia to Pacific Islands as Collect Surcharge

Dear Valued Customers,

Further to our advisory on 27 May, NPDL wish to inform that the Heavy Weight Surcharge (HEA) for all shipments from Asia/Africa/Latin America/Middle East to all Pacific Islands destinations will exclusively be a collect charge.

A reminder that vessels from Asia to New Zealand continue to hit dead-weight limitations prior to TEU limitations due to heavy import cargoes. The Heavy Weight Surcharge is designed to incentivise lighter cargoes and to allow for greater TEU load on vessels ex-Asia, enabling more goods to be
imported to the South Pacific.

This surcharge will be implemented for containers that are 18 metric tonne and above (Gross Weight) and will be payable as a collect charge only.

• Effective date: 1st July 2022 (Based on SOB date)
• Origin: Asia, Africa, Latin America, Middle East
• Destination: All Pacific Islands destination
• Quantum: US$150 per container
• Payment term: Collect

Thank you for your continued support.

Should you have any further questions or queries, please contact your NPDL representative.

Sincerely,
NPDL.

Thanks,

WCP.
